All classes offered by OATI are of very short duration – one to five days. Therefore, punctuality and attendance are vital. Participants are allowed one (1) hour of unexcused absence per sixteen hours (16) of course time. Late arrival and tardiness after breaks count against the unexcused absence allowance. Any additional absence has to be excused by the instructor.

If the instructor determines that the student is not meeting the class requirements because of absences, tardiness or disruptive behavior, the instructor may withhold the certificate of completion. Without the certificate of completion, the student may not be able to receive or renew an Oklahoma license.

Each short course has a written examination. A score of 70% is required to pass. No certificate of completion will be issued until the student is successful on the exam. If the student fails, they may retake the test within thirty (30) calendar days after the last day of the course. Only one retest is allowed.

The prerequisites for each course are included in the course description. These requirements are mandated by federal and state regulations and will be followed. If a student has the prerequisite training, but is unable to document it at the beginning of the course, they can be eligible to receive a letter of attendance rather than a certificate of completion. To receive their certificate, proof must be submitted within thirty (30) calendar days after the last day of the course. After thirty (30) calendar days, the training lapses and the student must retake the course with no refund of tuition.

Students may enroll by completing the form at the end of the catalog and mailing or Faxing to the Administrator at OATI. As long as there is seating capacity, enrollment for regulatory awareness and refresher courses will be accepted until 4:00 PM on the last business day before the class begins. Because of the need to arrange adequate equipment, enrollment for the initial training classes will end three (3) business days before the first day of class.

Tuition for each course is included in the course description. Tuition includes all texts, supplies, and equipment needed to complete the course. Students are responsible for transportation to and from class, to and from field assignments, meals, and lodging.

Students may receive a full refund of all monies paid if requested three (3) business days before the first day of class. After this time, cancellation, including last minute enrollees, will be assessed a 15% registration fee. “No Shows” who do not contact OATI before the first day of class are not entitled to a full refund.

For classes exceeding eight (8) hours, students may request a pro-rated refund during the first 50% of the class. No refunds will be given after 50% of the class is completed.
At the student’s choice, refunds may be paid by check or tuition voucher.

For the lecture classes, dress is casual. For the practical classes and the field assignments, dress needs to be appropriate, including long pants and sturdy work shoes. OATI is not responsible for any clothing or personal items damaged in a practical or field assignment. Additionally, students must comply with all safety rules given by the instructor, including, but not limited to, jewelry, contact lenses, facial hair and long hair. In a practical exercise, the instructor may exclude a student who is inappropriately dressed or refuses to comply with safety rules. This exclusion counts as an unexcused absence and may result in failure to complete the course.

OATI will make every reasonable effort to accommodate students with special needs. Please submit requests to the Administrator three (3) days before the beginning of class.

OATI does not permit:

• Use of video or audio recording devices (unless in accommodation to a special need and approved before the beginning of class),
• Placing or receiving of cellular telephone calls,
• Use of audio alarms on pagers, please switch to vibration mode—return calls must be made at the break.
